Coffee & Conservatism!
Political commentary for coffee addicted conservatives.
Welcome!
Thank you for stopping by and I hope as this substack grows, so to does your understanding of conservatism. This is a place for people who are uncompromising in their love for America, are current (or future!) conservatives, and who find themselves searching for answers to today’s cultural and political questions.
What to expect:
Cool segments!
I will be running a few ‘segments’ or ‘columns’ that will help you figure out all the crazy things happening around you in a way that is logical, informed, and powerful, so when you are confronted with liberal rhetoric in your life you can go to bat for America and for yourself. They look like this:
Election Coverage
I will cover GOP candidates for national and local elections and those who may (or should!) run. This will arm you with the information you need to make your own decision, but also to have informed conversation with your friends, coworkers, or god forbid, that liberal uncle who lives in Berkeley.
Who’s Who
I show you the vast array of different factions under the conservative umbrella, including core groups such as America First, Traditional Conservatives and Neo-Cons, to the far-flung groups and even libertarians! I will profile different leaders in the past and present as well as talk about what the group believes and some history!
What liberals mean when they say…
Heard terms, phrases or acronyms like ‘ESG,’ ‘DEI,’ ‘equitable distribution,’ ‘paycheck protection,’ ‘heteronormativity,’ or ‘intersectionality,’ and thought what the fuck is that? I explain what they really mean in a conservative context and give you information you need to handle conversations with people who throw these terms at you instead of using logical or rational arguments.
Coffee Philosophy
A series profiling conservative philosophy and thought leaders from history, placed in modern context with lessons for today’s conservatives. Anyone from Edmund Burke, founder of the modern conservatism, to President Reagan and more.
Talking Points
This is where I get into the weeds on current policy or political talking points that you are likely hearing or reading about elsewhere and want get informed on. Some of these will be as simple as reviewing a current event and breaking down how conservatives and liberals are reacting, to as complex as in depth policy analysis.
Coffee Count:
Once I figure out how to make cool icons and branding, I will implement the coffee count. This will rate each article or piece of writing by how many coffees from 1-5 cups are required to get through the article, basically rating it from an easy, quick read, to a more in depth or difficult one. Super longform articles or in depth interviews will need a full mug or two of black dark roast, but I promise there will be some light reads to get you going in the morning as well.
Free vs. Paid
This substack is so so new, which means becoming a paid subscriber helps to literally build its foundation. That being said, there will be plenty of writing available to unpaid subscribers, and I promise it will be just as informative the paid stuff. Eventually there will be articles, interviews or more that I will put behind a pay wall, especially if it takes me a considerable amount of time. So thanks for understanding capitalism like the conservatives you are!
